The Daily Erie team
If you own a home in Erie, here's how it adds up. Mayor Daria Devlin proposed a one-mill property tax increase in her 2027 budget, and that adds $100 to the bill on a $100,000 property. She's aiming to close a gap of nearly $15 million.
The 2027 plan holds spending nearly flat
- $87.8 million
- in proposed spending, excluding pension funds
- 0.7%
- increase over last year, pensions counted in both
- $100
- more in taxes on a $100,000 property

“This isn't gonna be easy, right?”
The gap started above $13 million, then grew with about $1 million in contractual raises and $600,000 in added debt service. The city has already cut ten positions, and the plan covers the rest with savings, new revenue, a tax increase and reserves.
A $6.5 million transfer from the fund balance is the plan's biggest piece
