  • Wegmans in Erie helped raise over $83,000 today for Second Harvest Food Bank as part of its national checkout charity program — a method used for 30 years — though a local online poll showed 59% felt pressured when asked to donate.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Erie local channels air three New Year's Eve specials on Dec. 31. WJET-TV will air Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve at 8 p.m., WSEE-TV will show New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash at 8 p.m. + WICU-TV debuts A Toast to 2025 at 10:30 p.m.  The Erie Times-News
  • Michael DeSanctis of Erie explains that the extended Christmas season, which began in late summer with festive displays, offers a reminder of love’s redeeming power amid recent gloom.   • Voting is now open to choose the District 10 high school boys and girls wrestlers of the week based on performances from Dec. 14-20. Cast your vote by Wed, Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.  The Erie Times-News
  • McDowell’s spirit squad earned a state berth by scoring 78.80 at Paul Goll Gymnasium on Dec. 20+ coach Pribonic said the 2.5-minute routine marked the best win of her career and a fresh start for the revamped team.  The Erie Times-News
