BUSINESS NEWS

  • Case and Cale Kunick unveiled unique billboards along West 12th Street after Case won the space at a charity auction to showcase their knife and insurance businesses; the ads will remain through late December (if weather permits) to highlight their brotherly bond and cross-promotion.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chevy Chase answered fan questions after a screening of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation at the Warner Theatre (811 State St.) on Dec. 8 in Erie. He battled a mild flu and received support from his wife during the Q&A before a sneak peek of his upcoming CNN documentary was shown.  The Erie Times-News
  • The Edinboro Area Historical Society will host a holiday event on Dec. 13 and 14 at Doucette House (126 Water St.) where vintage Lionel trains will run on tracks through displays of antique buildings and toys; cookies and hot chocolate will be served in the museum kitchen.  The Erie Times-News

  • Since the government reopened earlier this week, SNAP benefits have returned, though new rules make it harder for low-income families to reapply for help with groceries and essentials. Erie food banks remain open as many residents rely on them during the busy holiday season.  The Gannon Knight

  • Hair of the Dawg restaurant will be transformed into an informal bar serving bar food + beer, offering yard games and a 4,000 sqft dog park for pets and families. It will also feature live music and fun for kids.  The Erie Times-News
