  • Mercyhurst Prep and Calamari’s worked together to serve about 1,500 take-out Thanksgiving meals for people in need, continuing a 16-year tradition that began after a mission trip showed local hardships. The meal included turkey, many sides, and a Little Debbie’s pastry (organizers said the program will keep helping Erie residents).  YourErie.com

  • Local small businesses in Erie will host events tomorrow for Small Business Saturday—featuring pop-up markets, themed photo opportunities, and window decorating contests. Additional activities include mini golf discounts at Hazards Mini Golf Social Pub and seasonal deals—offering varied shopping options for holiday shoppers.  The Erie Times-News

  • Meteorologist Tom Atkins interviewed Vickie Jones, who was born in Erie during the historic Thanksgiving snowstorm of 1956 that stranded many motorists. First responders helped her mother—who was 7 months pregnant—reach Hamot Hospital in time for a twin birth, though only one baby survived.  YourErie.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Erie boxer Anthony Bizzarro had a malignant tumor removed from the roof of his mouth and paused his boxing career after serving as ringside color commentator at Bayfront Brawl 18. He is set for surgery on December 5 at UPMC Presbyterian and will train outside the ring while he recovers.  The Erie Times-News

  • The Erie Runners Club held its annual Turkey Trot yesterday at Presque Isle State Park—drawing over 2,000 participants in the 5K and 10K races amid festive turkey attire. Local runner Matt McWilliams won the 10K by finishing in 32 minutes, 13 seconds.  The Erie Times-News
  • Fairview graduate Katie Scott will join the U.S. under-20 Women’s National Soccer Team in two exhibition matches in Spain on November 29 and December 2—she is training for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.  The Erie Times-News
