- ➤ United Way of Erie County hosted an NFL flag football showcase on Sunday at Erie Veterans Memorial Stadium—over 200 students and their families from all ten public elementary schools played after six weeks of practice. - ➤ Therapy Dogs United hosted their annual Howl-o-Ween event on Sunday afternoon (with a dog costume contest, kids’ activities, a photo booth, raffles and a fall-themed gift auction) where families enjoyed snacks and helped raise funds for the organization. - ➤ Three cats died in a house fire on Saturday, Oct 26 at the corner of West 30th and Charlotte streets—firefighters responded at 8:15 p.m. after the blaze started in the basement and said the cause is still unknown. YourErie.com

- ➤ Erie native drag performer Alaska will return to the Playhouse for 'A Very Alaska Christmas Show' on Dec. 22 and 23 at 8 p.m.—tickets start at $35.95 and VIP packages include a soundcheck and meet-and-greet. - ➤ District 10 high school football playoffs will begin on Oct. 31 with four games and continue with additional matches on Nov. 1 and later dates through Nov. 15. General McLane will face Oil City for the Class 4A championship at Edinboro University at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 & McDowell will host State College for the 6A subregional contest on Nov. 7-8 after Erie and Meadville opted out. - ➤ Erie High opted out of the District 10 football playoffs hours after the brackets were announced due to a shortage of healthy players. The forfeit of their title game at Edinboro University on Oct. 31 — set to face McDowell—results in McDowell being named the D-10 Class 6A champion and will lead to a PIAA subregional home game on Nov. 7 or 8.
