  • Friends of the Erie County Library is hosting its fall S-Book-tacular sale in the Admiral Room at Blasco Library from Oct 16—18. Shoppers will find new mystery, fiction, history, art, and children's books plus puzzles, CDs, and DVDs while the Bayfront Bookshelf in the lobby sells used items to support library programs.  The Erie Times-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Erie County Health Department inspected restaurants from Oct.2 to Oct.8 and found four critical safety violations, including a blocked handwash sink at Dunkin' in Corry and a door gap at Dollar General on W. 38th St.—noncritical issues were also noted at other outlets.  The Erie Times-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Sudbury Wolves broke their winless streak by defeating the Erie Otters 6—3 on Oct. 11 at Erie Insurance Arena, ending the Otters' fourth loss in a row. The win, marked by two quick power play goals, comes as the team prepares for a home and home series with the Niagara IceDogs—beginning on Oct. 17.  The Erie Times-News
  • North East beat Girard 46-3 at Ted Miller Stadium on Oct. 11—Carter Crozier scored early with two touchdowns and made an interception that set the pace. The win eliminated Girard from Region 5 contention—boosting North East's playoff chances.  The Erie Times-News
  • Mercyhurst Prep star running back Vinnie Feliciano ran for 297 yards and scored eight touchdowns on 15 carries as the Lakers beat Iroquois by a score of 55 to 6 on Oct 10. He has gained 1,095 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in about four and a half games this season after returning from missing two games.  The Erie Times-News
