- ➤ A new housing program called Brandy's Corner opened today on the Mercy Center campus at 1039 E. 27th St. to help homeless women and children by offering housing and wraparound services—GED classes, health care and job training. - ➤ WQLN lost its federal funds on Sept. 30 and will keep its television lineup while planning modest radio changes and a building sale in Summit Township to be closer to local activities—donations increased 185% on Erie Gives Day with an anonymous $50,000 matching gift. The Erie Times-News

Agnello Heating and Air Conditioning installed a new HVAC system for veteran Frederick Passamonte and his family as part of the Feel the Love donation—selected after a GoFundMe fundraiser highlighted their need. - ➤ Jefferson Educational Society has planned its 2025 Global Summit in Erie with events running from Oct. 14 to Dec. 4. Dr. Jane Arbuckle Petro will open the series on Oct. 14 and speakers like Jim Kelly, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Mike Pence and Henry Louis Gates Jr. will follow—ticket prices increase after early bird rates end on Oct. 10. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scientists are using a remotely operated vehicle—an ROV—and advanced sonar to map nearly 100 square miles of Lake Erie’s deep bottom for shipwrecks and cultural history. The Erie Maritime Museum will host an open house on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the public to see the equipment and speak with the team. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Erie County announced its A Pathway Home project nearly 10 months ago with 25 tiny homes built for transitional housing on East 16th Street, but the city is waiting for proper drawings to approve the permits.
