- ➤ At an open house on Wednesday night, officials and community leaders gathered to discuss the future of the former Erie Coke site—saying cleanup will take decades and asking for ideas on green space or tax revenue options. - ➤ Erie County has opened the Crosswinds Recovery House — an eight-person facility for men in substance use recovery — on the west side to provide stable housing. The county is working with Pyramid Healthcare and plans to add a women’s recovery house soon. YourErie.com
- ➤ Erie County’s municipal election will occur on Nov. 4 — early in-person voting is underway, voter registration will close on Oct. 20, and absentee ballot applications must be submitted by Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. Mail ballots are expected to begin arriving around Oct. 13, and completed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day. - ➤ Erie County Executive Brenton Davis is facing questions for using a program that allowed inmates to clear snow and repair a veteran’s home during a severe November snowstorm last year.
