- ➤ During September, several Erie dining spots changed as Serafini’s Trattoria opened an invite-only restaurant on State St., Mighty Fine Donuts extended its hours, Mi Scuzi closed after its owner filed for bankruptcy, and Pittsburgh Inn was sold—while a Speed Check station in Summit Township was approved to develop a drive-through restaurant. In addition, Firebirds in Millcreek Mall closed for a day because of health violations before reopening, and the old Saga Club building is being renovated into the Union Club for members only—signals a shifting local restaurant landscape. - ➤ Erie historian Bobby Sulecki—introduced to Polish language and culture by his great-grandmother—is leading a new exhibit at the Hagen History Center that explores Erie's Polish heritage. The Erie Times-News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Erie County Health Department inspections from Sept. 17th to 25th found five critical violations in restaurants and stores selling unpackaged food, including expired baby formula at Dollar General and high temperature issues at UPMC Hamot and Parkhurst Dining—other establishments had noncritical violations or fixed earlier problems. - ➤ Erie High football players shared interviews and game highlights after earning their first win—capturing the excitement of the win. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ The Erie Otters avoided a 0—4 start with a dramatic 4—3 overtime win over the London Knights as Gabriel Frasca ended his scoring drought by tying the game late and then winning it in extra time.
