COMMUNITY NEWS

  • PorchFest returns to downtown Erie on Sept. 27 with 25 bands performing on various porches from noon to 6 p.m.—an after party at Altered State Distillery will run from 7 to 10 p.m. and free trolley rides by the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority will serve the walkable area.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Erie County Community College opened in 2021 and now serves more than 800 diverse students with flexible terms and built-in success coaches. The school is expanding its health care wing and partnering with local high schools and businesses—moves that will further boost Erie’s workforce in the near future.  The Erie Times-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Erie County Health officials inspected local restaurants from Sept. 11-18, 2025 and found fourteen critical violations at places like Perkins Restaurant, Cheeserie, GGS Management, Skunk & Goat Tavern and Trawka's Mom & Pop Grocery—issues ranged from wrong cooler temperatures to unhygienic practices. They plan to follow up soon—ensuring food safety measures are improved.  The Erie Times-News

  • On Sept. 20, the Erie Otters lost three to one to Kitchener in their OHL home opener despite outshooting their opponent by nearly two to one—coach Kris Mallette said the young team must learn to grind and rely on goaltender Noah Erliden for better results.  The Erie Times-News
