- ➤ Gannon University at its Erie campus fired one employee and disciplined others for social media posts that celebrated the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who was shot on Sept. 10 at an event at Utah Valley University, President Walter Iwanenko announced on Sept. 15— the university said posts glorifying violence are unacceptable. - ➤ Two school districts in the Erie region issued statements after an employee’s social media post following conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s killing; the North East district placed the employee on administrative leave while Crawford Central said the post did not reflect the district’s values—both actions coming on Sept. 11.
