- ➤ Waldameer Park has announced that its classic Paratrooper ride—originally opened in 1973 and dismantled after the 2024 season—will return next to the Steel Dragon with a new paint job and lighting package in summer 2026. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ The Barber National Institute announced that the final Barber Beast on the Bay will take place at Presque Isle State Park on Sept. 6 with in-person registration starting at 10 a.m. for the 11 a.m. race wave while elite runners begin at 8:30 a.m., and the 12-year fundraiser has raised over $80,000. Volunteers are still needed to keep the course safe — about 40 are required. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Aldi began selling its Ambiano immersion hand blender for $14.99 on Sept. 3, and the model comes in black, green and white with a chopping bowl and whisk attachment. The deal is offered at more than 160 stores across Pennsylvania, including three in Erie, while other kitchen appliances are on sale until stock runs out. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Presque Isle State Park will extend swimming at Beach8—open on weekends through Sept. 28 with lifeguards and disabled access—if weather permits, although on Sept. 7 the beach will open at noon due to Erie Marathon road closures. - ➤ Starting next week, 700 feet of Old Glenwood Park Ave in Millcreek Township will be converted to one-way westbound traffic only— a short-term safety measure as township officials work with PennDOT to secure funds for a future roundabout project. YourErie.com
- ➤ Erie City Council approved a bond up to $20.5 million on Sept 3 to redevelop the former Miller Bros. property into a public safety and public works complex through phased improvements. Some council members raised concerns about cost and future control after Mayor Schember leaves office— the measure passed by a 5–2 vote. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ On Wednesday, the PFBC opened a new 2,800 square foot research facility in Erie for local biologists to study native lake species—giving them a controlled space for better sample analysis. The agency also said it will replace its 66-year-old boat with a new 55-foot research vessel that will be ready in June. YourErie.com
