- ➤ Fairgoers have said the Erie County Fair in Wattsburg draws large crowds because the food — from funnel cakes to cheesy fries — is tasty and affordable, and many enjoy the mix of local snacks while visiting family and seeing animals. - ➤ The 29th annual German Heritage Festival will be held at St. Nick’s Grove on Aug. 30 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.—offering authentic German food, music, dancing, and family activities. - ➤ The Pennsylvania State Education Association said state lawmakers have delayed more than $1.75 billion in payments to public schools — leaving districts including Erie to miss about $37.4 million in funds for July and August as budget talks remain stalled. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Today, Mayor Joe Schember dedicated the new Kahkwa Bridge in northwest Erie with local officials—city workers and dignitaries—attending the ceremony. The $2.6 million project replaces the crumbling 101-year-old span with a 2-lane, dual-sidewalk roadway, and paving on nearby Ravine Drive is scheduled for September. TalkErie.com
- ➤ Drivers in Erie must plan alternative routes as Bayfront Parkway will close for a year from Sassafras Street Extension to Holland Street beginning Sept. 2 for highway reconstruction — lowering the highway under State Street will allow a full reopening next fall. Nearby streets have adjusted traffic patterns with detours directing drivers along 12th Street. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ US Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer announced her department will take part in Erie's Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 1st at 10:00 a.m. The parade will launch from 10th and State Streets and is hosted by the Great Lakes Building & Construction Trades’ Council. TalkErie.com
