- ➤ Millcreek Township hosted a family event at Asbury Park on Saturday afternoon where children sat in police cars, fire trucks, and maintenance vehicles to learn about the work first responders do—providing a rare up-close look at local service vehicles. - ➤ Tall ships including Erie's own Lettie G. Howard will sail toward Dobbins Landing for the Tall Ships Erie Festival from Aug. 21 to 24, with the Parade of Sail planned from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can track the fleet online with a tracker that updates every 10 minutes. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ The second annual Maverick’s Memory car and bike show took place Sunday at the Greene Township Building to honor baby Maverick Easton who died at 6 weeks; the event raised funds for nonprofit Emma’s Footprints and drew strong local support. - ➤ Firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire on East Avenue Sunday evening—leaving the three-story home with major damage to the attic and second floor while the cause remains under investigation. YourErie.com
