Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 9th of August.
Good morning, Erie.
🎭 Culture
The 48th St. Paul's Italian Festival brings the community together to support the St. Paul's Neighborhood Center by showcasing food and live music along West 16th Street (this three-day celebration started on Aug.
7 and continues today).
Erie native Colonel Strong Vincent rallied his men on Little Round Top at Gettysburg on July 2 with a defiant cry before being mortally wounded; a new Erie Times-News series revisits his brave act and local roots (his family has deep ties in our community).
🌲 Environment
Starting mid-September, the Foundation for Sustainable Forests will open the 282-acre Robert Crawford Memorial Forest in Washington Township for passive, non-motorized recreation such as hiking+bird watching and hunting.
A free guided forestry walk is scheduled for Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon with preregistration required.
