- ➤ Rod Rate, a 26-year-old Erie resident, was arrested by police on Thursday night for allegedly firing into a crowd of 11 at 8 pm on July 20 near the intersection of East 24th and Wallace Streets—wounding a 28-year-old man in the thigh with charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment while his last known address was in Lawrenceville, Georgia. - ➤ Former Erie Humane Society executive director Nicole Leone faces trial in September on charges of access device fraud, theft by deception and record tampering—police allege she made 139 unauthorized credit card charges totaling over $32,000 for personal purchases—after serving for over nine years. - ➤ Lake Erie water levels, currently above long-term averages, have begun their seasonal decline today as predicted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
