  • Mason Farms has opened its pick-your-own strawberry season where ripe fruits are available for picking, and owner John Mason Sr. said the farm will cool the fields if temperatures top 80°—a measure planned for next week as the season ends the first week of July.  YourErie.com

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Flash flooding on Wednesday afternoon damaged Gulf Road near the New York border by washing away a large section—trapping one family in their home and flooding nearby vineyards while reporting no injuries and Harborcreek Township offering help with cleanup today.  YourErie.com

  • TV anchor Brian Wilk will leave Erie TV stations when his contract ends this summer and will stay on air through July—Nexstar posted a job opening for his position while Wilk said on LinkedIn he is looking for a new job.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Humanity’s High Hurdle, an 18-foot stainless steel sculpture by Garry Bibbs, was moved in March from the Erie Art Museum to the Erie Center for Arts & Technology at 650 East Ave—where it will be dedicated on June 26 at 2 p.m. ECAT students helped build the new base for the sculpture as the artist is set to lead a workshop during the ceremony.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community Country Day School in Millcreek Township has taught 75 students from grades one to 12 for 57 years. A Loving Giving Local donation this week will help pay for clothing, food and field trips for students in need—ensuring they receive extra support.  YourErie.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Erie County Council passed a resolution on June 17 that supports ECGRA and urges the Davis administration to release $538,000 in owed gaming funds and stop public attacks—council members criticized Davis for ignoring audit findings. ECGRA will hold a board meeting today at 8:30 a.m. at 5240 Knowledge Parkway with the option to view it via Zoom.  The Erie Times-News
