The Girard American Legion Post #494 held a Memorial Day parade yesterday at 2 p.m. that traveled through downtown and ended at Girard Cemetery for a solemn ceremony honoring veterans—local fire trucks, police and legion riders took part in the event.

A car and a mini bike crashed on Memorial Day evening just before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cole Drive and Helen Road, sending the mini bike operator to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening — police are investigating the cause.

On Friday, May 23, PSP Erie conducted a DUI checkpoint in Erie City that stopped 60 drivers and resulted in four DUI arrests, two felony arrests, four misdemeanor arrests, one seatbelt citation, 15 traffic citations and 14 warnings+ while urging drivers to use a designated driver or rideshare service when drinking.

Seneca won its first District 10 softball title since 1976 when sophomore pitcher Sophia Primavere struck out a key batter in the sixth inning to help the Bobcats beat Sharpsville 14-5 on Monday—finishing the season 20-1.

The team will play in the PIAA first round on June 2.
