  • Water World will open May 23 at 220 Peninsula Drive with current rides, but new attractions are delayed due to weather; Big Water Bend and Presque Isle Plunge will open early June while Rally Racer is postponed until next weekend + Winding Waters Endless River will debut in July.  The Erie Times-News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new family-owned restaurant called Marley's Island opened at 3018 State St. today and serves Caribbean food with jerk-seasoned meat, tropical smoothies, and a vacation vibe for local diners.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gannon University awarded $10,000 to five local nonprofits for youth arts programming today — funding projects such as the WhatARTU Youth Art Showcase, Teen Art Club, summer art classes, a Mini Maestros Sound Playground, and a Wearable Art Project.  TalkErie.com
  • WQLN’s Sounds Around Town concert series will offer free, family-friendly live music at its scenic wood pavilion this summer as local and Cleveland bands perform on Friday evenings from June 19 to July 17; free beer plus grilled hot dogs will be available while supplies last.  TalkErie.com
  • Tom Hagen is restoring 50 historic homes in Millionaire's Row to donate to the Historic Erie Preservation Trust as his team advances multiple projects. His favorite project is the Jarecki-Collins House (a 7,600 sqft Tudor Revival home) on West Sixth St.  The Erie Times-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Visitors to Presque Isle State Park must follow new beach rules to ensure safety; swimming begins May 23 at designated, guarded beaches and visitors may wade only at other times (without lifeguard supervision). Alcohol, open fires, and drones remain banned, with kite flying and pet rules also in effect.  The Erie Times-News
