  • Erie's ETPA Humanities and Black Wall Street present the oral history film project Voices of History Erie, which will show eight short films at the Erie Art Museum (20 E. Fifth St.) on May 14. A 6 p.m. reception precedes screenings and a discussion with Pulitzer Prize winner Edda Fields-Black beginning at 7 p.m.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A recent Pennsylvania Youth Survey report finds 1 in 3 Erie County students felt depressed and 1 in 10 skipped meals due to money issues while bullying exceeded state averages. The survey, which involved grades 6, 8, 10 and 12, underscores ongoing challenges for local youth.  The Erie Times-News
  • Iroquois High School held its 2026 prom at Marten's Barn in Waterford on Saturday, May 9 with dancing and the crowning of a prom queen and prince. The festive event captured school spirit and provided a memorable evening for students and guests.  The Erie Times-News

  • Erie County tick season started early — ticks have been spotted since March as warm temperatures increased activity. Local doctors advise wearing long pants and checking for ticks, while Dr. Brad Fox is seeking volunteers for a trial testing a new Lyme disease pill.  The Erie Times-News
