- ➤ Erie natives Paul Goll and Marty Lee Hoenes, guitarists with Donnie Iris and the Cruisers, will perform at the Warner Theatre on Saturday, April 26. - ➤ Former EPA associate administrator Ted Stanich (58) will join Mercyhurst University as the new executive director of the Intelligence Studies program starting August 4, and he said he is eager to teach classes and expand the program. - ➤ A PSP report found that Easter weekend from April 18 to April 20 saw 532 crashes with six deaths and 95 injuries and officers issued 11,138 citations, including 2,976 for speeding—figures that show fewer fatalities and speeding tickets but more overall crashes than last year. YourErie.com
- ➤ Erie CRIZ held an informational meeting at the Blasco Library on April 24th to explain a state economic development plan expected to generate over $750 million over 30 years. - ➤ Governor Josh Shapiro visited Erie on Thursday to thank first responders and advocate for more state funding for firefighters, adding that rising costs for equipment are straining budgets (with ladder trucks now costing about $2 million and pumper trucks over $1 million). He recalled the arson attack on his residence 11 days ago and introduced a pilot program to help fire departments share resources while ensuring yearly cancer screenings for firefighters. Grants Specialist
The Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJNN) seeks a dedicated and meticulous Grants Specialist to lead and expand our grant funding efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Grants Specialist will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals and reports, and maintaining grant contract compliance. This position will work closely with fundraising, accounting and program staff and should enjoy working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, and demonstrate the ability to embrace SSJNN’s mission to empower richly diverse and historically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
