ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Saint Vincent valet driver accidentally crashed a vehicle into the Hardner Building — located at 2315 Myrtle St. — on April 22, and after an inspection confirmed the building was safe, repairs began and medical flights along with patient appointments resumed — the driver is in stable condition at the hospital. - ➤ Three men remain in detention without bond in Erie as they face charges including homicide+conspiracy to commit homicide, aggravated assault and other counts following the fatal beating of 31-year-old Ledomperignon Eady on Oct. 30, with prosecutors presenting video evidence and witness testimony while defense lawyers challenge parts of the case. - ➤ Erie County received a C grade in the 2024 American Lung Association report for both 24-hour particle pollution and ozone pollution — the Canadian wildfires led to several high pollution days from June 1 to July 17 — and the Erie-Meadville metro area dropped in national clean air rankings. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Millcreek Township will use $250K in GAP funds to realign an aging storm pipe, as supervisor Daniel Ouellet explained. Township officials expect the work to begin soon to improve storm water flow in the community. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ After a tough steelhead run, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is considering limiting fishing hours on a section of Walnut Creek because local landowners have complained about nighttime disturbances—such as bright lights and trespassing. The proposal, set for discussion on April 28, would restrict fishing to 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset while keeping other areas available all day. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ Erie Water Works received a $10 million boost — a $9.6 million grant and a $400,000 loan — from the state on April 23 to replace nearly 7,400 lead service lines in Environmental Justice areas. The project already removed more than 3,000 pipes and will be 85% finished by 2025 with full completion set by 2027 to ensure safe drinking water. The Erie Times-News

Grants Specialist
The Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJNN) seeks a dedicated and meticulous Grants Specialist to lead and expand our grant funding efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Grants Specialist will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals and reports, and maintaining grant contract compliance. This position will work closely with fundraising, accounting and program staff and should enjoy working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, and demonstrate the ability to embrace SSJNN’s mission to empower richly diverse and historically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
