  • Happy Bark provided a no-interest loan of over $20,000 to the Erie Humane Society at 2407 Zimmerly Road to help it recover from a temporary financial setback caused by unauthorized credit card charges. The nonprofit said the loan reflects a shared mission to rescue and rehome dogs while relying on local support and donations.  The Erie Times-News

  • Jake Rouch, vice president of economic development for the Erie Chamber of Commerce, was chosen by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation for its Business Leads Fellowship Program—an eight-month course that provides expert training and networking opportunities to tackle local workforce challenges. He was one of 35 selected after a competitive application process.  The Erie Times-News
  • Kate & Co., a woman-owned strategic marketing firm, will move its headquarters from Tower Lane into a downtown Erie building built 155 years ago. A $4.5 million renovation began Friday that will restore historic features like a vintage printing press and is expected to finish by 2026.  The Erie Times-News

  • Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center hosted its fifth Women in Leadership breakfast on Friday morning at the Bayfront Sheraton, gathering 90 employees, board members, and young women to honor the organization’s founders during Women’s History Month. Center president Dr. Adrienne Dixon—who said recent policy changes make the event’s message even more needed—stated that the breakfast celebrated years of educational leadership.  YourErie.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Since the beginning of March, the Erie Parking Authority has made downtown garages cashless by accepting only credit cards—using a tap process that speeds up entry at the garage on East Eighth and French streets. For drivers who prefer cash, about 1,400 parking meters are available for quarter payments around town.  The Erie Times-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Erie County health officials advised those born between 1963 and 1989 to check their measles vaccination records and talk with their doctors about a booster shot—this comes after the county’s first two cases in 34 years, where two related adults were diagnosed after traveling abroad and are now recovering without hospitalization.  The Erie Times-News
