COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Erie is set to celebrate America 250 with several events planned by the Erie County America250PA Committee. The events include a free concert at Erie Insurance Arena on June 6, a sailing ceremony on July 2, fireworks at Dobbins Landing on July 3, plus further cultural events through Sept. 12.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mercyhurst University is marking its 100th anniversary with centennial events planned after spring graduation and during Homecoming weekend, Sept. 18–20, featuring art shows, performances, and historical tours. The university will begin its leadership transition in July with interim president David Livingston (guiding the upcoming centennial initiatives).  The Erie Times-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Erie parks show spring’s arrival as Frontier Park and Presque Isle State Park display budding trees and returning birds; local expert Andrew Sipple noted early blooms and turkey vulture counts. Residents can enjoy a brisk walk to see species such as red-winged blackbirds and northern cardinals.  The Erie Times-News
