- ➤ Smith’s hot dogs represent Erie in the Pennsylvania Chamber’s 2026 'Coolest Thing Made in PA' contest. Voting runs from March 19 to March 23 at 11 a.m. — the product competes in the Liberty section alongside Meadville’s Acutec Aerospace Components. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Erie Philharmonic is set to perform Dvořák’s New World Symphony as part of the Flagship City Legacy of Burleigh event, celebrating local musical history. The concert will take place soon at the home venue (date to be announced). Erie Reader

- ➤ Temperatures in Erie exceeded 70°F several times in March, and local maple producers at Triple Creek Maple Products (Elk Creek Township) worry the warm days may end this season’s sap flow. - ➤ Purple martins are arriving today in the Erie area after a 7,000-mile migration from Brazil as sightings increase, with the Purple Martin Conservation Association reporting the first arrivals in Conneautville (Crawford County) and nest building set for later this spring. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Erie City Council met on March 18 at Bagnoni Council Chambers to discuss Scott Enterprises’ proposed $32M AC Marriott hotel in the Harbor Place development on the east bayfront; the council may vote on the project by April 1 while some residents raised questions about views and bird safety.
