BUSINESS NEWS

  • Erie radio station WRIE-AM 1260, known as Erie Sports Radio, stopped broadcasting late last week after a history dating back to 1949 since its owner Cumulus Media said it was no longer a strategic fit—this station carried Cleveland Guardians games for about 50 years. Guardians games will air on 104.3 FM The Touch in 2025 as the team makes the switch, though officials did not say if any local jobs were affected.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mercyhurst junior Ava Forsyth won first prize at the Patricia S. Yahn Juried Student Art Show held in February at Cummings Gallery for her charcoal self-portrait—the work named Preoccupied—that reflects her early loss. She will create larger life-size pieces and plans to start an art business while exploring museum work, fashion design, and art therapy.  Mercyhurst University
  • Fairview teen Walker Scobell stars in Percy Jackson and the Olympians on the Disney streaming service, where the show won several Children’s Family Emmys and a Kids’ Choice Award. The series has been renewed for a third season and its second season will debut in December (the new season will adapt The Titan’s Curse).  The Erie Times-News

  • In February the median home listing in Erie County was $239,900—a drop of 3.9% from January's price—and homes stayed on the market for a median of 68 days compared to 75 last month.  The Erie Times-News
