  • Tom Hagen, chairman of Erie Indemnity, saw his net worth drop to $5.3 billion on Forbes’ latest list + his ranking fell from 219th to 806th after lower stock prices and a $100 million charitable contribution as of Mar. 13.  The Erie Times-News
  • FirstEnergy will replace 20.3 miles of power lines in Erie County from the Erie South substation (on Old French Road) through several townships. The company will apply to the PUC this summer and start construction once approved, with work expected to last about four years.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mercyhurst University launched Studio 26 to power student innovation by linking students, faculty, and local industry under a venture model supported by a $500,000 grant from Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA). GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Shapiro and lawmakers introduced the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit on Friday, Mar. 13 to offer $193 million in tax relief to nearly 940,000 Pennsylvanians who qualify for the federal EITC (the credit is automatically calculated when filing both state and federal returns) as part of a broader tax relief plan.  The Erie Times-News
