  • Mercyhurst University + Harborcreek Youth Services honored CEO John Petulla for 23 years of leadership in trauma-informed care. He will receive the 2026 Leadership and Innovation Award from the ACJS on Friday, Mar. 6 in Philadelphia + marking a milestone for the local partnership.  Mercyhurst University
  • Erie restaurants cancelled two private events set for Feb. 28 featuring conservative activist Scott Presler after organizers received boycott threats on Feb. 24 and reported safety concerns to police.  The Erie Times-News
  • Corry reopened a half-mile trail yesterday and approved a plan with Impact Corry to upgrade the path — the project will boost local recreation and support nearby businesses.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will perform at the Warner Theatre at 811 State St. on May 15 at 7 p.m. — tickets go on sale on Feb 27 at 10 a.m. starting at $68.50 as he returns for his eighth performance, with past shows drawing over 2,200 fans.  The Erie Times-News
  • Edwina Tries is hosting the Erie Black History driving tour, A Trail of Shared Heritage, which celebrates Black History Month by offering residents a guided drive through historical sites in Erie. The tour takes place in February 2026 and aims to deepen community awareness + appreciation of local heritage.  Erie Reader

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Today, Infinite Erie launched a Housing Accelerator to build or renovate 250 housing units over the next five years—50 for permanent supportive housing, 100 mid-sized multifamily, and 100 larger-scale developments—in a six-block plan to address blight and affordable housing shortages.  The Erie Times-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State Behrend wrestling rebuilt under head coach Caleb Garvey, who recruited District 10 alumni—bringing local talent to snap a 25-dual meet losing streak to a 9-2 record. The team will travel to Ithaca, NY for the NCAA regional tournament on Feb. 27-28 as they build a local powerhouse.  The Erie Times-News
  • Cousins Logan Latimore and Bryson Galloway reached 100 career wins at the District 10 Class 2A wrestling championships on Feb. 20. Latimore pinned his first opponent while Galloway secured his milestone in overtime (a memorable moment for North East wrestling).  The Erie Times-News
  • Harbor Creek's boys basketball team played Oil City in a District 10 playoff game, with star J.T. Delsandro edging closer to becoming the team's career scoring leader.  The Erie Times-News
  • Mercyhurst Prep Lakers advanced to the District 10 finals after defeating No. 4 Greenville 85-56 on Feb. 24 at Hagerty Family Events Center — their first finals appearance since 2012, setting up a Feb. 27 contest with Cochranton.  The Erie Times-News
  • After winning the Division 10 semifinal 85 to 56 for the Lakers against Greenville on Feb. 24, Mercyhurst Prep released interviews with Aiden Ollinger & Trent Bengel.  The Erie Times-News
