  • Franco's Cafe opened a larger space at 416 State St in Erie after over a year of renovations, expanding its dining area (from 850 to 1,850 sqft). Owner Larry Franco said the cafe offers breakfast and lunch on Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Erie Times-News

  • Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Gaaron Blanchard explained the different types of ice forming on Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie during colder weather (offering tips on water safety).  The Erie Times-News

  • Kenny Godoy scored 51 points (17 field goals, five 3s, and near-perfect free throws) on Feb. 3 as Girard beat North East 71-40, boosting his record total and thrilling youth fans waiting for autographs.   • Mercyhurst University sophomore forward Julia Schalin will represent Finland in the Winter Olympics women’s hockey tournament from Feb. 5–19 on two rinks in Milan, Italy, while coach Mike Sisti notes her absence challenges the Lakers’ lineup.  The Erie Times-News
