- ➤ Today, the Erie Auto Show returns at Bayfront Convention Center with over 20 dealers showcasing new and hybrid models during events running through Feb. 1. Free shuttles depart every 30 minutes from Liberty Park and discounts apply for military, veterans & first responders, with educators admitted free on Feb. 1. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Port Farms in Waterford will host the Third Annual Groundhog’s Winter Fest starting Jan. 30 with bonfires, live music, craft vendors, and Elsa and Olaf meet-and-greets for kids. The free event runs through Feb. 1 and charges fees for some activities (like wagon rides and food). The Erie Times-News

- ➤ PennWest proposed revisions to degree programs that may add new majors and certificate concentrations at Edinboro. Officials announced the plan yesterday to extend courses from other campuses to the 2,000-student site + streamline current offerings. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ The U.S. Coast Guard freed a 1,004-foot freighter from ice on Lake Erie using cutter Neah Bay after the vessel was icebound on Jan. 21. It will also activate a regulated navigation area around the Lake Erie Islands on Friday, Jan. 30 at 8 a.m. to protect waterway users. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Health officials in Erie explained a 72-hour rule for giving the MMR vaccine after measles exposure during the 2025 outbreak, advising adults to get a booster if unsure of their status. Erie hospitals and the Health Department remain alert after exposure incidents at a local childcare center (2312 W. 15th St.). The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Mercyhurst University announced plans to add women's wrestling as its 31st varsity sport for the upcoming 2026–27 academic year, and it will begin a national search for a head coach while men's wrestling director Jimmy Overhiser recruits women's athletes (the program will be Pennsylvania's second Division I women's wrestling team).
