  • Erie Downtown Partnership Ambassadors braved the cold to clear sidewalks downtown today + ensuring safe passage for pedestrians and supporting local businesses. The group continues its winter efforts to keep the area accessible.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new exhibit at Hagen History Center highlights Wilderness Lodge (the state’s first Nordic ski lodge) founded in 1969, celebrating over a century of local heritage with rare photos and documents. The display offers a glimpse into the lodge’s lasting impact on our recreation and community history.  The Erie Times-News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Brandon Mendoza, CEO of the Chamber, unveiled the Erie 300 Strategy to boost regional economic growth and build partnerships. The Chamber is expanding its team and partnering with Infinite Erie to support local businesses as part of the long-term plan.  The Erie Times-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Scientists from the National Ice Center reported Lake Erie is about 80% frozen as of Jan. 23, with only select pockets along the southeastern and western shores still ice-free; forecasters expect these areas to freeze in the coming days, which could stop lake-effect snow.  The Erie Times-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hayden Stippich (a Harbor Creek graduate and second-year PBA Tour bowler) is in strong form after posting a 7-1 record and 2,196 pins on Jan. 24 at Westway Lanes and will compete in the final rounds of the Times-News Open today at Eastland Bowl in Girard.  The Erie Times-News
  • At the Fred Bell wrestling tournament in Grove City yesterday, Chase Karenbauer, Hudson Hohman and Cash Morrell each won their weight class as Karenbauer earned Most Outstanding Wrestler (with a dominant 19 to 1 win) and Morrell secured the 172 pound title with a 10 to 4 decision.  The Erie Times-News
