- ➤ Jamie Schumacher, a partner at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton LLP, was elected as the new president of the Erie County Bar Association and replaces Elizabeth Hirz, the former District Attorney. She will lead the association in 2026 while continuing her nonprofit board work and dance instruction in the community. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ Mercyhurst graduate Jake Bazala saw his pro baseball dream take shape when the Savannah Bananas drafted him in the 10th round after a try-out in the Coastal Plains League; he reported for training camp Jan. 14 and will soon play in sold-out stadiums across the country — mixing pitching with dance moves. - ➤ The Bayfront Convention Center will host the 24th Stars & Stripes gymnastics invitational from Jan. 16 to Jan. 18, featuring over 1,600 youth athletes from nearly 50 teams. The main event on Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. will showcase more than 75 national-level athletes. The Erie Times-News
