  • Erie-based Flagship Niagara will return to Erie by July 2 for the nation's 250th anniversary after a $5 million restoration in Maine.  The Erie Times-News

  • Centennial Hall is set to host the Winter Country Fest featuring live music, local vendors, and seasonal treats for the community. Event details such as timing and activities are to be announced.  Erie Reader

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Presque Isle State Park will host a lifeguard job fair on Jan. 11 at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 301 Peninsula Drive to fill about 15 lifeguard positions needed for summer. The fair offers two sessions: 10 a.m.-12 noon and 12 noon-2 p.m. for interviews, training, and potential hiring.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gannon University launches Project NePTWNE science series — free family-friendly programs on Lake Erie, wildlife and the night sky at CLEER in the Blasco Library begin January 11. The interactive events run Sundays through May with exhibits, stargazing sessions and fish lessons.  TalkErie.com

  • Erie Times-News is highlighting District 10’s top performers from Jan. 5-10, featuring standout achievements in boys and girls basketball, swimming/diving, and wrestling (the list details key contributions during the winter sports season).  The Erie Times-News
  • North East high school wrestler Kyler See demonstrated his signature Peterson roll on District 10 Wrestling Technique of the Week on Wednesday, Jan. 7. His move earned him several reversals and back points, boosting his varsity record this season.  The Erie Times-News
  • The Erie Sports Commission announced a Facility Matching Funds Program awarding up to $75,000 for local sports facilities. Applications from Erie County must be submitted by March 31 to request up to $15,000 for projects that enhance sports tourism — a boost for community events.  TalkErie.com
