  • On Dec. 5, the Times Old Newsies collected donations across Erie to support Community Shelter Services’ Kiwanis Caring Kitchen, Emmaus Soup Kitchen, and local food pantries; 75 volunteers braved temperatures below 20 degrees to uphold a tradition that began in 1939 (reflecting Erie’s enduring generosity).  The Erie Times-News

  • Falcone's, a new Italian restaurant in the Copperleaf development in Summit Township, serves classic dishes with a twist using Chef John Panarello's 48 years of expertise (blending tradition with fresh ideas) for local diners.  The Erie Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Erie’s Hagen History Center is set to expand its exhibits in 2026 with a museum within a museum at 356 W. Sixth St. — the center will showcase Frank Lloyd Wright’s reassembled San Francisco office in late spring and a Perry exhibit with personal letters and artifacts next summer.  The Erie Times-News
  • North East resident Douglas Bailey (a self-taught artist) turned trash from Lake Erie into a 22-by-37-inch art piece called Lake Erie Leftovers, which will debut at the Hidden Creeks Project at the CLEER Center on Feb. 1.  The Erie Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mother Teresa Academy is considering relocating to the Blessed Sacrament campus for the 2026-27 school year. Feedback sessions for families and parishioners are scheduled, including a meeting on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in the parish cafeteria.  The Erie Times-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Five North East residents attended the Dec. 1 council meeting to question borough officials about Stacey Frost’s plans for 13 properties. Frost—who splits her time between Los Angeles and her hometown—has drawn local concern with her recent purchases.  The Erie Times-News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that Erie County homes sold for a median of $200,000 in September, down 11.1% from August and 7.4% higher than last September. Recorded sales increased 7.7% to 265, totaling $79.8 million in revenue.  The Erie Times-News
  • Real estate experts have shared essential tips for first-time homebuyers to plan budgets, compare mortgage options and check credit scores. The advice helps local buyers navigate the housing market with more confidence.  The Erie Times-News

  • New wrestling coaches Ryan Cook and Jimmy Overhiser are building college programs in Erie County with Cook forming the Edinboro women’s team using seven in-state recruits while Overhiser rebuilds Mercyhurst’s men’s squad for future NCAA competition (dual meets and tournaments are scheduled).  The Erie Times-News
