Good morning, Erie. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 14th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • GECAC’s R. B. Wiley Senior Center in downtown Erie will close on December 23 due to funding shortfalls and low attendance—official sources said parking challenges and its location have led to fewer seniors using the center. The organization advised displaced seniors to attend other local centers for meals and activities.  YourErie.com
  • On Thursday afternoon, the Mercy Center for Women partnered with Goodwill to host its Stuff the Box event that began at 12:00 p.m. and had boxes filled by 12:15, with at least 20 cars bringing donations that secured funds for the Mercy Anchor Community Center’s food pantry — a satellite campus of Second Harvest Food Bank. Director Erika DePalma noted that just last week, 166 people were served in a food distribution as the need for food assistance increased in our community.  YourErie.com
