- ➤ Debbie Garcia opened the Rainbow Bridge Pet Memorial Garden in Scott Park in Millcreek on Oct. 12 in honor of her late mother. She funded the project through donations, sponsorships and memorial brick sales — with orders available until April. The Erie Times-News
- ➤ The Erie Zoo’s largest fundraiser—ZooBoo—has begun for the rest of October after hundreds attended Friday evening in Halloween costumes. Visitors can trick or treat at zoo booths, meet talking pumpkins and ride the Eerie Train Express at this 37-year event. YourErie.com
- ➤ A huge pumpkin weighing nearly 800 pounds was brought to an Erie fire station as part of an annual tradition when a firefighter harvests his giant pumpkin. - ➤ Friday night the Barber National Institute hosted a not spooky adult dance at Gannon University to offer social opportunities through its partnership with local universities. - ➤ Gannon University hosted its inaugural 'Frontiers' conference yesterday where students, scholars and experts discussed cybercrime, national security and cyber espionage in sessions that included criminology student Deazhaune Matthews on domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. - ➤ Governor Josh Shapiro on Friday announced a $9.5 million investment in the Bayfront Market House Project at Erie’s waterfront—part of a broader plan that has drawn over $25.6 billion in private investments and includes the Bayfront Parkway Improvement Project with the Sassafras Pedestrian Bridge.
