- ➤ Nonprofit SafeNet and Erie police wrapped purple ribbons around every third parking meter downtown on Monday to raise domestic violence awareness — SafeNet noted that one in three women is affected — and executive director Robin Young urged residents to talk about home safety. YourErie.com
- ➤ The Presque Isle Neighborhood Network held a public presentation at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center to share July survey results from over 400 residents and 74 businesses in the Presque Isle Gateway District, noting community calls for safer streets and better lighting. - ➤ The Old Farmer's Almanac forecast for Thanksgiving says Pennsylvania will be sunny with colder-than-normal temperatures and possible light snow before Nov. 27. The winter outlook predicts mostly mild weather with pockets of wild and below normal snowfall overall—while Erie usually sees its first measurable snow around Nov. 9. The Erie Times-News

- ➤ A Kentucky-based company plans to build a 264-foot communications tower on Route 98 in Franklin Township to support cellular, internet, and emergency communications services— the tower near 9421 Route 98 in Girard will require conditional use approval— and township officials will review the proposal before construction begins. - ➤ Erie is working to improve health for mothers and babies by offering free doula care with the BirthRoot program—this effort aims to lower the high rate of infant death and care disparities. - ➤ SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania postponed its planned three-day strike at Walnut Creek Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center and seven other facilities—citing a lack of union support and a no-strike clause in the contract.
