  • The Toy Scout Road Show in Erie continues its search for vintage toys from the ’80s and before as manager Jeff Schriefer said founder Joe Magee earned his nickname by trading toys across the country. Collectors can buy or sell items including gold, silver and memorabilia at Springhill Suites from Sept. 19 through Sept. 23 — offering a chance to relive childhood memories.  YourErie.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • The expERIEnce Children’s Museum opened its Turtle Travels exhibit today and invites families to enjoy interactive games, crafts, and activities that teach about turtles, tortoises — and the habitats they live in. A members-only preview was held Friday, and visitors will experience a loggerhead sea turtle simulation that shows what the animal sees as it swims.  YourErie.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the Community Blood Bank launches The Twelve Days of Taylor blood drive to help with a critical shortage as donated blood is urgently needed by local hospitals—prizes inspired by Taylor Swift’s albums will be offered and both appointments and walk-ins are welcome.   • Glenbeigh Center of Erie hosted its annual Recovery Month celebration on Friday at Booker T. Washington Center, where over 25 local health and human service agencies gathered to share resources and help reduce stigma. Program director Jay Burrows said the event encouraged people to ask for help and start their road to recovery.  YourErie.com

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In August, the median list price for homes in Erie County was $239,000, a slight rise from last month’s $237,500 and 1.8% below last August’s price. Homes averaged 1,541 square feet at $162 per square foot and were listed for a median of 38 days — new listings increased by 26% compared to August 2024.  The Erie Times-News

  • District 10 high school football is at its midway point with 18 games scheduled this week—17 on Friday night and one on Saturday where Sharon faces Farrell in the Steel Bowl. Reporters Jeff Uveino, Mike Copper, and Tom Reisenweber will provide live updates throughout the night.  The Erie Times-News
  • The Erie Otters started their season with a game in Canada on Friday night and will host a Fan Fest with live music, food trucks, and red carpet before their home opener against the Kitchener Rangers at 7 p.m. today at Erie Insurance Arena. Managing partner Jeremy Wood-Ross said the team is 60% sold out and will showcase a strong defensive style with new faces this season.  YourErie.com
  • Matt Caro set a new single-game record with 347 passing yards as McLane football won 49-13 over Corry—PJ Mitchell also spoke about the team’s strong performance after the game.  The Erie Times-News
  • The SeaWolves won their fourth straight division title with a dramatic final out and a festive celebration captured on video. Interviews with players and fans highlighted the team's strong season—proving their success this year.  The Erie Times-News
  • Brody Bonsell set three school records on Sept. 19 by rushing for 381 yards, scoring seven touchdowns and 42 points to lead the McDowell Trojans to a 65 to 47 win over Meadville at Gus Anderson Field — his record performance boosted the team's season to 2 to 3 while Meadville fell to 1 to 4.  The Erie Times-News
