  • A Patriot Day ceremony is being held today at 8:30 a.m. at the Blasco Library as Erie County honors the victims and heroes of Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — officials advise arriving early to avoid delays.  YourErie.com
  • Celebrity chef Robert Irvine returns for a third year to host Hero Days today at Liberty Park—gates open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 5:30 p.m. for a free concert honoring first responders and veterans.  YourErie.com
  • On September 11, 2001, Erie residents felt the shock of the terrorist attacks by gathering in local spaces—such as the Community Blood Bank, the airport, and churches—to donate blood, watch news coverage, and pray. BUSINESS NEWS

  • On September 10th, 2025, Nelson-Jameson cut the ribbon on a new 45-thousand square foot distribution center in Fairview Township that will add up to 20 full-time jobs—renovating a former furniture warehouse into a modern, sanitary facility.   • Two small businesses in Erie, Blind Tiger Inc and Moore Research Service, were named to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce America's Top 100 Small Businesses list this year.   • Mercyhurst University held its 8th annual Hurst Day yesterday—classes were canceled so students could enjoy a carnival-style event with a mechanical bull, bouncy houses, and food vendors, and the day ended with a steak dinner for attendees. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT will start patching work on I-90 from Exits 22 A/B to Exit 35 from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, September 14 for three weeks as part of an $18 million project to repair 17 miles of I-90 and 13 miles of I-79—drivers should use 511PA and other GPS systems to check for updates.  YourErie.com
  • Millcreek Township will borrow up to $3.3 million by issuing a general obligation note to purchase the Shrine Club property for a new community center and recreation area along West 38th Street and Zuck Road. The township will repay the loan over 15 years at a 4.18% rate while earning income from the center and allowing Zem Zem Temple to use the building until 2026.  The Erie Times-News
  • Erie County Councilman Chris Drexel opposed spending $150,000 from the general fund for a new East County EMS ambulance — his stance has stalled the funding request.  The Erie Times-News
