Two Erie men were charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and firearm discharge after police say they fired into an occupied house on April 4 at about 1:15 p.m. on Linwood Avenue—shell casings were found and a running Jeep parked nearby while no one was injured.
Erie County declared a measles outbreak after two new cases were identified as direct exposures to a case reported March 30—bringing the total to five—and marking the first confirmed outbreak since 1991. People who visited UPMC Hamot's emergency department on April 5 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. should monitor for symptoms, and county health officials will hold a vaccination clinic on April 22 at the Zem Zem Shrine Club for anyone 18 or older.
